The Golden State Warriors are a professional basketball team based in Oakland, California.
They play in the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Warriors were founded in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors, and were one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America (now known as the NBA). The Warriors won their first championship in 1947, and then won another two championships by 1956. After moving to San Francisco, they played seven seasons without winning a championship before winning three straight titles between 1964 and 1966. The team moved back to Oakland in 1971, where they have been ever since. The Warriors have had a number of notable players over the years. One of their most famous players is Wilt Chamberlain, who holds several records for scoring points in games and even entire seasons. Other notable players include Rick Barry and Chris Mullin.
